Thomas A. Mays is a US Naval officer of 22 years and the author of the bestselling A Sword Into Darkness. Specializing mostly in military sci-fi and space opera, Tom has also sold and published short stories of social science fiction, AI, sci-fi comedy, and military fantasy (including the Hugo-nominated (and declined) short story “The Commuter”). His works have been featured in Daily Science Fiction, Jim Baen’s Universe, The Grantville Gazette Universe Annex, Aphelion, The Writer’s Arena, Riding the Red Horse, and his own collection R.E.M.O. He was a top ten finalist for last year’s Jim Baen Memorial Science Fiction contest.
He is currently working on a sequel to A Sword Into Darkness and on a new stand-alone series with Chris Kennedy.
