How to Register a Costume in the Ravencon Costume Show:

Registering Before the Convention:

Note: There is no penalty for changing your mind and doing a different costume than the one that is preregistered. HOWEVER, you must tell the people at the sign-up table about the change, scratch the old entry, and register the new costume!

  1. Part of the registration process can be done in advance, up to the Sunday before the convention. (After Sunday, the Costume Director cannot process email in time.)

 

  1. Send an email entitled RAVENCON Costume ENTRY to Judy Mitchell <judymitch@oldwaylane.net>
  2. in your email, answer these questions:

 
DIVISION:
(Pick from Young Fan, Novice or Experienced
        Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror)
 
 
COSTUME TITLE:
 
 
COSTUMER'S NAME(S):
 
 
NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WILL BE ONSTAGE:
 
 
COLOR OF COSTUME (So that there aren't 3 white costumes in a row, for example):
 
 
TYPE OF ENTRY:
Not category, this is so that 3 funny costumes or 3 action costumes are in not a row. Types include beauty, action, humor - a basic rundown of what the presentation and costume are like. Descriptions should be only one or two words long.
 
 
WARNING:
Will you have trouble seeing/moving/going up and down steps? Will you leave props onstage?
  
Are You a Young Fan, Novice or Experienced? (those under 14 years old will be considered Young Fan. If not sure what you are, read the guidelines): 

 

        
DO YOU WANT THE MC TO READ THE TITLE BEFORE OR AFTER THE   
PRESENTATION?
 
 
WILL YOU HAVE MUSIC OR DOCUMENTATION TO CHECK IN?
TYPE THE MC'S SCRIPT(this blank means you don't want the MC to read anything aside from your name and the costume's title.):

 
            At the convention, come to the Costume table between 4 pm and 9:00pm on Friday 10am or  2:00pm on Saturday. There you will:

    1. Check your form as printed. This ensures that there have been no miscommunications.
    2. Sign the release.
    3. Drop off documentation and/or music.
    4. Discuss the technical cues with the tech staff.

Registering At the Convention:

  1. Come to the Costume Registration table between 4 pm and 9:00pm on Friday, or 10am – 2pm on Saturday.
  2. Pick up a registration form. Forms can be filled out at the table or taken away. (If you take the form away, it must be brought back to the Costume Registration table by 2:00 Saturday!)
  3. Fill out only the top part of the form.  Bring the form and any other material you have ( documentations, a CD or tape, etc) back to the Convention Registration table by 2:00.
  4. Tell the staff member at the table exactly what you plan to do. We do not have much tech at this time, but if you want some music played in the background – talk to us! we'll see what we can do.
  5. IMPORTANT!!! The Ravencon Costume Show cannot guarantee the safety of any materials turned in at the table! Instead of giving us a favorite CD and telling us to "play track 6," burn a CD with only that song. Instead of giving us a favorite photo for documentation, give us a scanned or photocopied duplicate. (Up to 6 copies would be great, so that each judge can have their own copy.)

 

After the Costume Show:

Music/skit tapes and CDS can be picked up at registration on Sunday morning. If you know you will not be able to attend, give the Costume Director your address. Please include a self addressed, stamped, and I will make sure the certificate/CD will be mailed on Monday morning.

There will be a boom box at registration to be sure that homemade CDs will play.
